Andrea Cowhig is putting herself forward as a community candidate for Hollington in the upcoming Council election. She’s holding a meeting on Wednesday 25 March to launch her campaign.
Andrea first started campaigning because of damp and mould in her Southern Housing flat. Now she wants to be a councillor to be a voice for everyone in her community who is also struggling to be heard.
“I think the only way we can make our voices heard is if we come together as a community”, said Andrea. “I hope that if people elect me, it will send a message to the people in power that we are fed up with the way things are.
Our roads are a mess, our health service is crumbling, the cost of living is going up all the time. The government talks about taking us into wars we want no part of, and building houses none of us can afford. Young people are scared about the future. I want to get elected to shout about what’s going wrong and empower more people to campaign for change.”
The meeting on Wednesday is a chance for people to discuss the key issues that Andrea can raise during her election campaign. It’s also a chance for people to come together in the community and work with Andrea to take forward these campaigns after the election.
Andrea’s campaign is a chance to build a real movement for change. We are urging everyone to get behind her and come along on Wednesday to the Tilekiln Community Centre, Hollington, at 6.30pm.
