Capitalism is killing us. Our green spaces, our air, our wildlife, our rivers and seas, our food – the basis for all life on earth – is being sacrificed for profit. Forests burn and ice-caps melt, while we’re served up sewage in our water and microplastics in our food by companies whose only goal is to enrich their shareholders. All overseen by governments who only care about what they call ‘economic growth’ regardless of the cost to people or the environment we rely on.
The Hastings Peoples Party believes in putting people and our planet before profit.
We want to tackle the real polluters – big business – not penalise individual workers for what they buy or the cars they are forced to drive. We need an economy that’s organised for the public good – producing renewable energy, decent public transport, insulation for every home, and healthy food; those are the things that will enable all of us to live sustainable lives on a liveable planet.
Here in Hastings, our members campaign to protect green spaces from over-development; for public control of our water companies; for empty homes to be refurbished and used for social housing; for cheap and reliable, renewable energy in warm, dry homes free of damp and mould, and against the wasteful use of housing asfor luxury second homes.
